Honour Your Health Challenge – Week Five and I’m Still Alive

ImageWow! We just started week 5 of the Honour Your Health Challenge and I had a doctor’s weigh-in on the Wednesday. I lost weight. Whaaa? How could that happen? I was fed and pampered the week before and still lost weight. Must be because of serving size the food-stopping power of the macaroons. I hadn’t been keeping up my daily food journal while I was on Quadra Island but I did fill them in from memory and I had such good memories of the food I ate. But, looking back, I did notice the quantity of food went way down after I ate 3 coconut macaroons. They were so good. Walking has helped, too.

Yes, I got my new runners except they’re Salomon trail shoes. New SalomonsYes, the Salomon who makes skis and of course cobblestone streets in Europe are wonderful “trails”. I went to New Balance and tried on the slip-on walking shoes and…they looked hideous on my feet. I fled quickly and ended up at The Outdoor Store looking for a plug adaptor and I saw these shoes. I will admit it was the colour that turned my head – papaya! And I tried them on and fell in love. They have these wonderful soles that make it really hard to turn your ankle or fall over. I need that!!! They are relatively light, airy with mesh and flexible polka dot fabric for my toe joints. They also have toggles instead of laces and I can pre-set them, shoe horn in without having to tighten and away I can walk. I’ve worn them to work this week and they feel great – thus, more walking.

I have more challenges coming. 1 1/2 weeks of the Honour Your Health Challenge, then two weeks in Europe. First, with relatives of Norm in the Netherlands and they have whipped cream with everything. Then, a week on the Rhine with Viking Cruises. Heck, they have 5 star chefs and their own vineyards and all the wine and beer you have with your meals is included. Sigh! But this will be balanced with daily excursions which are a fair amount of walking. And with my cane and my magic shoes I should (Yes, I am going to “should” on myself.) burn off some of the calories but it will be very hard not to just sit at our balcony on the boat and look at castles sipping my coffee (insert wine here if you can picture it).
