A Virus Is Not A Good Diet Strategy

Wow! It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve posted a blog. I’ve been sick. Very sick! I got a virus. No, not H1N1 because I got the flu shot in November and H1N1 is included in that. But…there are all kinds of viruses and contagions not in the flu shot. I missed a lot of work. I would even feel pretty good and go off to work but by the time I got there I had the screaming headache and nausea that would knock me off my feet. I only threw up one morning, the morning I had booked a massage to release tense muscles in my right shoulder. Obviously I didn’t make that appointment. I only have a small part of my stomach now so throwing up doesn’t do much because there is nothing there, food has already moved on. So, it was more like dry heaves. Yuck. Remember them? bug

I probably slept more over the last 10 days than I have in the month before. I also lost a lot of weight. I weighed myself the day before yesterday and had lost 10 pounds from the weigh-in two weeks ago. There is a reason. I wasn’t hungry. I honestly don’t remember not being hungry. I also haven’t had a full cup of coffee in 10 days. Tea, I can handle black tea. And I thank goodness for cranberry cocktail. Oh, yeah, and ice water. Lots of ice water.

Guess what? “It’s going around!” But I think I’ve worn it it out more than it has worn me out. I thank drug companies for ibuprofen and Gravol. Keeps the pain and heaves away. So now I have to try and keep the 10 pounds off if I haven’t already replaced some of it with supper last night (tomato soup and grilled cheese). Coffee still tastes funny, so, it won’t hurt to cut back on that. And, as I look around the house there’s lots to catch up on: shopping (After I clean out the fridge. Norm won’t throw food out unless I tell him it smells bad or is liquid when it started as a solid.); laundry, including the sheets; watering the plants; make a real meal for supper; dust, there is so much dust around; and Norm can vacuum.

I’m glad I’m through the worst for now and wouldn’t wish this on anyone. So, thanks for listening. ;D Diane
