Spa Water – Guzzling The Daily Eight

After posting the Fat Flush Water I realize there are so many of us out there trying to make our daily eight glasses fun and good for us.  There are so many options. Cutting up an apple and throwing in a cinnamon stick will (or so Audrey Johns says) help jump start your metabolism. I’m not sure I would make that strong a statement but I DO know that getting your 8 cups of water a day is essential to keep your systems working and brain from getting dehydrated.

Apple cinnamon waterIt turns out you can add so many things to your water, keep the whole 8 glasses in a jug in your fridge and drink it all day and into the next, and the next, and the next. I currently have cold Gen Mai Cha (roasted rice green tea) in my fridge and I’m counting that as water and anti-oxidants.  No pop(soda) because we do not need the sweeteners (sugar or fake), the salt (that’s what makes soda soda), and/or other chemicals. But…we can add herbs, spices, fruit and veggies.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Lemon or lime wedge
  • Citrus fruit wedges, grapefruit, orange, tangerine etc
  • A light splash of fruit juice (100% juice – no sugar) just for flavour
  • Ice (water to water and some say because you have to warm the water to absorb it inside, you burn a calorie or two)
  • Lemon oil
  • Mint oil
  • Cardamom pod
  • Cucumber slices
  • Lemon/Cucumber/Mint combo
  • Strawberry slices
  • Melon slices (cantaloupe, water, honeydew)
  • Ice/Mint/Stevia
  • Cucumber/lime or lemon
  • licorice root (at the health food store)
  • Mango and fresh thyme
  • Pineapple slices
  • Raspberry and fresh mint leaves
  • Watermelon and fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Blackberry and fresh sage leaves
  • Berries
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Cinnamon stick

Did you know that if you drink a glass of water before a meal you will feel fuller earlier? Also a glass of water before taking a test will help the synapses in your brain fire easier and you will do better. Hmmm.

So, grab some water and tart it up so it’s not so boring, you’re not!
