Friday Wishes and Weekend Dreams

KEXMINWell, I made it through another week. I even lost a tiny bit of weight and made my doctor happy. OK, I was very surprised and happy, too. So I’m wishing for a continuation of the most amazing weather this weekend and a couple of dream walks this weekend.

This afternoon I went for a walk along Esquimalt Lagoon and the little sand dunes that separate the beach from the road and harvested some KEXMIN, also known as Indian Consumption Plant and Lomatium Nudicaule . KEXMIN is the SENĆOŦEN  name for an amazing plant that the W̱SÁNEĆ People know is so good for sore throats, headaches and lung infections. I couldn’t find any last winter so I wild-harvested this year. I also only took one out every three heads. That way the plant and seeds will proper next year, too.

It made me think of all the wonderful things we can eat and drink that grow all around us. I have so many things growing in my yard that will make wonderful teas – hot and cold. I have mint and lemon balm. I have raspberry leaves and rose hips. I even eat the miner’s lettuce and chickweed. But no cows. Nope I don’t have any beef in my backyard. Sigh.

So I’ve turned off the alarm (not that I use it) so Norm can sleep in. I’ve been getting an hour or so more since school let out and I’ve read that helps. So, I’ll wish for a relaxed weekend and I’ll dream of feeling full of good, low-carb food and lots of love.

Thanks for listening and for those of you appreciate the randomness of life, the following picture is of no relevance at all. ;D Diane
