Weekend Weakness

different diet cartoonWell, here it is Friday and my the amazing W̱SÁNEĆ School Board has given us the day off to celebrate Aboriginal Day. So, now here I am surrounded by all the food I can imagine and if it’s not in my kitchen, it’s only a short drive away.

I am always temped by the idea that a diet can start on Monday, or if I really need to , on Sunday night right after the Sunday feedfest! Therefore, the weekends are a weakness for me. I know better but that doesn’t mean I won’t slip in a glass of wine or so. In fact, a student of mine gave me a bottle of mead. MMMMmmmmmm wine made from honey, an old and honoured Celtic tradition. I have no idea the calories or carbs in it. I could look it up but then that would mean I would have to say “No!” to a nice glass of mead.

pineappleI’m thinking I’ll make big bowls of bean salad and cucumber salad and have them in the fridge. I’ll get some fresh strawberries (I’m sick of apples, which are soooo good for me but, really, I’m bored). Pineapples are on sale, too. One of those cut up would be nice. It’s better to have healthy food slapping me in the face rather than the fattening foods.

I’ve got some lemon-lime sparkling water so I’ll fill a jug with lemons, limes and grapefruit and top it off. Hey, even the sun has come out. This is a glorious way to start the summer.
