All That And A Bag of Sour Grapes
My parcel from Pennington’s came on Wednesday and I got a pair of shoes, a pair of houndstooth rain boots, a white tank top and cool charcoal pants with zippers at the ankle. All this for under $70 including shipping. It would have been less but I jumped the “free-shipping” gun by 5 hours.
Times have changed. There was a point in my life (not that long ago) that I would never have ordered shoes on the ‘net. But here I am with shoes and boots – they’re not tall leather boots but really cute. And we know it rains a lot in Victoria so I need some rain boots. I have ordered other things to wear on-line and have been very happy with them but they are usually very cheap. I am worried about shopping for stuff on-line because it doesn’t stress me out I may get too used to it. I’m really worried that I will start ordering specialty food items. Ordering food on-line is expensive but it sure expands your taste buds.
I have genuine First Nations smoked salmon in my fridge. It makes my mouth water just to think about it. A little in my scrambled eggs would be glorious. I CAN do that – no carbs. But with Christmas coming think of all the goodies available even locally! I can’t believe I fatisize (my Freudian slip for fantasize) about food this early in the morning. I was thinking I could go 80% Atkins and do the cheese and meat Christmas or just stick to the no white food and let in the fruit and veggies.
Yeah, I’ll do that and put some grapes in the freezer instead of ice cream. I’ll keep salami and cheese on hand – lots of Mandarin oranges and crisp apples. I’ll roast up a whole pile of veggies for meals and real salads. I can cut out the pitas and wraps and just have the 1 or 2 Ryvitas (less than 15 bad carbs). I’ll make my famous cheese balls and the cream cheese Jello (sugar-free Jello, of course) that is so nice and helps bust the sugar crave monster. I can make whipped cream with no sugar for the Irish Coffees. I think I can do this.
OK, tonight is the school district dinner. I need a strategy. First I’ll drink lots of water before dinner. I’ll heap the salads and no breads or pasta. Lots of talking and cheese and fruit for dessert – NO PASTRIES!!!!! Sigh. My friends and kids will help me, too. Everyone wants to succeed and they want me to succeed. I know – what if I set the goal of losing weight over the next 30 days? That would cover Christmas and New Year. The only deal breaker would be the last-minute holiday to the tropics! But I think I could deal with that when it arises.
Thanks for listening. ;D Diane
