Dr Oz Said So! Green Coffee and Tea – Trendoid or Wonder-full?

Green Coffee extract. What the heck is it? Actually, its coffee beans that haven’t been roasted yet. Why are they so popular and for what? The key ingredient within the green coffee bean is chlorogenic acid – a powerful natural antioxidant known for its ability to fight free radicals has numerous health benefits. Its antioxidant effects allow it to help fight diseases. It’s supposed to help you lose weight, detox your liver and gallbladder (which I don’t have anymore), and put your pancreas back in order, thus reducing your chance of suffering Type 2 Diabetes.

Remember when the buzz went out about green tea being so good for you – guess why. Yep! It’s full of chlorogenic acid. So are sunflower seeds and blueberries. Remember blueberries, one of nature’s wonder foods? They got kicked out by gogi berries. And guess what one of the mystery substances is in gogi berries – chlorogenic acid. Other foods that have it in lesser concentrations are potatoes, tomatoes, apples, pears, eggplant and tobacco (eaten not smoked). They’re all in the same family. But…and there’s always a but. It’s a strong substance and people with food sensitivities should be aware that it can cause migraines and stomach upset.

We jump on the wagons so quickly. Vitamin C is so good for you, too. It turns out that it’s wonderful for your skin, too. You can get skin products with soluble Vit C in them and spend a respectable amount on them or you can have a strawberry facial. Vitamin B6 take for the 2 weeks before your period will lessen bloating, mood swings and cramping. It works. And don’t forget D for calcium bonding and replacing the sun, right? Carrots (Vit A) makes your vision better doesn’t it?

They used to call these old wives’ tales but that’s how our wisdom and knowledge is passed down until scientists and Dr. Oz re-discover them.

I like the idea that foods can help us. We need to eat them and use them. I take a multiple vitamin every day but, from winter to spring, I also take halibut liver oil, it’s full of A and D . I grew up with it. Every winter, Mom would give us spoonful of cod liver  oil then later it came in capsules (Yea! until you burped! Gross). Halibut liver oil is more concentrated so the capsules are really small and they are so good for us!

So, what bandwagon are we going to jump on now? Eating fresh healthy foods will give us what we need.Exercise will burn off fat and increase our own seratonin, endorphins and other healthy

Enough of that. I am resolving to have a cup of green tea before every meal. I’ll get double benefits – chlorogenic acid and the fullness from the hot water (my Mom told me that one over 40 years ago – try just the hot water)!

Enough for this morning. Thanks for listening. ;D Diane

  1. Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?

    • I sent every blog I publish to email, too. I back up my hard drive at least once a month, on an external hard drive, more if I have work on it. Check for more info from your Blog managers. Are you trying to hack my blog? It’s not that interesting and not connected to anything more important that this blog.
