There was an intelligent, if not heated, discussion about words at work yesterday morning. Before our real work started of course. We discussed how words were used, what was considered a “bad” word, such as a swear or curse word and…wasn’t it all really just semantics? Eventually it came around to invented words like “frell”  from Farscape and “frak” from Battlestar Galactica. Both these words were invented for Sci Fi TV shows where true swearing was not allowed on prime time, network TV.

I love words. I love reading, saying and playing with words. Some people say puns are the lowest form of humour, I say “posh”, they are one of the highest because you have to know multiple meanings of words, rhyming words, complex sentence and story structure to be able to se the punned word/s correctly. You must also have an amazing ear and sense of timing to get the best laugh in right place and time.

Some things are worth the WEIGHT. (Ice cream and chocolate, to name a few.)

OK, sometimes they’re groaners. Back to words. Tye told us he used “fungry” a lot. It wasn’t one I’d heard. I had heard of hangry“, I even blogged about it. But “fungry” intrigued me. It means, f***ing hungry. Hmmm, that makes total sense and I can’t believe I’ve never used the term before. But I definitely will from now on! Because? I have, indeed, been fungry. So fungry, in fact, I could and would eat almost anything – except liver.

Enough on this, I’m fungry and have to weigh the good vs. bad foods for breakfast. They do set the pace for the whole day! Thanks for listening. ;D Diane

One meal a day is enough for a lion and would be for all of us
if all we did all day was swat flies.
