Is It OK To Want To Do Nothing?

I would at least wear my housecoat.

It’s the kind of day where I just want to do nothing. And I feel the nip of the guilt puppy about that. But… isn’t that what we work all our lives for – retirement? What will I do when I retire? I’ve just spent seven and a half months sitting around and being very frustrated with it. It was due to a disability and I’m recovering and will be going back to work at the end of the month. But…I’ve kind of gotten used to this.

Isn’t retirement where you relax from all those years of work? I’m going to watch TV then read for a while. I’m not going to think about Norm’s Excel spreadsheet or my food journal. I’m going to be lazy.

I hate being called “lazy”. It ranks up there with “fat”. I’m not fat, I’m morbidly obese! And usually I’m not lazy, either. I’m a Westcoaster – I’m laid back! Being laid back actually drives my sister bonkers. She can’t stand to sit still, even on holidays. I bet if I scheduled “reading” into her phone she’d enjoy it more. Norm also feels “lazy” when he grabs a half an hour to watch TV in the middle of the day. Me, I’ve built myself up to way more hours than is healthy and with all the new TV shows on at the same time, I can PVR them for morning, noon and night as long as they don’t conflict with court TV. I crochet while I watch TV. So I guess I’m not doing nothing (yes, that was an intentional double negative, because it means I’m doing something)! Oh, my! I’m running out of lazy things to do.

OK, I’m done now. I’m going to sit on my couch with my guilt puppy. Thanks for listening! ;D Diane

PS: I do have physio today…
