What’s Your Favourite on the BBQ?

We are still in the middle of Junuary here in Victoria. It is supposed to be sunny and maybe, repeat, MAYBE, reach 15C (double it and add 30 to get fahrenheit) today. The good thing about our house and weekends is that we have a covered deck so we can BBQ all year ’round.

But really, BBQ is a great way to cook foods for a diet. I love grilled vegetables and you can cook fish, chicken, beef, lamb, pork and mystery meat on a BBQ. And another bonus for me is that it’s a man’s job. Of course all the prep and serving is the woman’s job but the actual cooking is done by manly men. Of course this is usually accompanied by beer. We even have a cooler on the deck, year ’round, for convenience and alcohol overflow.

So, I’ll prep some veggies, lots of peppers, onions and zucchinis in a nice balsamic oregano toss; and make sure the chicken breasts are ready to be coated with 30-calorie-per-tablespoon sauce. And we shall dine like royalty, very poor and cold, royalty!

  1. sounds yummy. I love BBQ’d skewered veggies with marinade.

  2. I used to spend hours skewering but I have to make so many now that I put them in a grill basket and give ’em a turn when the appropriate “doneness” (small char marks) is observed. MMMmmmmmm
