Clothes to Get Weighed In

Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes!

I see my Doctor today and I’ve had many ups and downs (I think mostly ups) these past two weeks. And she cares so much about me that she weighs me every time! (Bah humbug!) I actually tried hand-weighing my pants to see which ones I should wear to get weighed in. I know you should wear exactly the same things each time you are weighed but then the wonderful ladies in the Dr’s office would think I don’t own anything else! And perception is everything, right?

A long time ago, my mother and I belonged to a wonderful group called TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). It sure worked for her. She was the Southern Ontario Queen. She lost the most weight in 1965 of anyone else in TOPS. I was only a young teen. Sigh, it was one of many events that formed my up and down life. Anyways, every Tuesday night, 18-20 women would weigh-in. It was a hoot. They would wear their lightest clothes (even in -20 weather in Ottawa) and take off all their jewellery (I even remember one lady taking off all her jewellery and then putting it in her pocket – silly it was still getting weighed). There would be a line up at the bathroom and people breathed out before weighing in! We celebrated any loss, no matter how small. Then after group we would all go out to a restaurant and eat ’til we couldn’t move. Not good.

Of course that was back in the days of Binge/Starve. What? That still exists? Does this mean I shouldn’t (yes, I’m shoulding on myself) drive through McDonald’s for the bacon and Egg Bagel with Hash-browns? Well, now that I’ve written it here, you know I won’t do it. I had my yoghurt and coffee for breakfast all ready and I’ve chicken and homemade coleslaw in the fridge for lunch. Sigh, so much for spontaneity, today.

I found this great picture of the perfect clothing to get weighed in; very lightweight. Look how slim they look, too. Of course they are exercising by taking the ox for a walk. They make a very nice couple. Maybe that will be a good way for Norm and I to lose some weight and build our aerobic capacity. I’ll have to buy and ox. I wonder if the SPCA has any? I’ll look.

Thanks for listening. ;D Diane
