Improv Your Life!
No, it’s not a typo. Read on.
I went to a TEDx yesterday at the Victoria Conference Centre. My friend, Randi, had two tickets that her husband won on the radio. He did not know what they were for – good – more for me! I was thrilled to be asked! If you have never heard of TED, google it. TEDtalks and TEDx are all around us with something on every subject and media!!!
One of the presenters was Dave Morris and he talked about improv (http://www.davemorrisisa.com/index.html). I love improv. I do it everyday that I teach. I do it everyday in some way, shape or form. You could try it! I almost “should” on you.
One of the first things I noticed about the word was that it could, truly, be the root word of “improve”. I could and have improved my life with improv. Does that make it improv-ed? Oh, my goodness, they are spelled exactly the same way. This could get confusing.
Good! Did you have a candlelit breakfast? Why not? Did you drink from another mug? I hate being predictable unless being weird is predictable but what I’m doing weirdly is not usually predictable.
So, ad lib something everyday. Liberate yourself by improvising. Tap dance your way through a day – figuratively or literally. Time step, step, brush, brush, brush, step behind, step behind. Jazz hands!!!!!! No one will see it coming and you will – well – be you!
Improv your life, improve yourself! ;D Thanks for listening. Diane
